Development Status Of Plastic Pipeline Industry In The World
Jan 15, 2019

As early as the 1930s, developed countries such as Europe and America began to produce and apply plastic pipes. In 1933, plastic pipes were first industrialized in France and the United States. In 1936, Germany developed and applied plastic pipes for water, acid and construction sewage transportation. In 1939 Britain laid the world's first plastic water pipeline. As plastic pipes have many advantages such as corrosion resistance, non-scaling, low friction resistance and easy installation, developed countries have followed suit. The plastic piping industry has developed rapidly, replacing metal pipes or other traditional pipes.

The rapid development of plastic pipelines in the world mainly benefits from the extensive application of water supply pipes, drainage and sewage pipes, communication and cable sleeves, natural gas pipelines, etc. Secondly, the replacement of aging pipes in buildings in developed countries and regions has created new market demand for plastic pipes. From 1995 to 2005, the demand trend of plastic pipes varies from region to region. In the mid-1990s, the rapid development of American construction industry made its demand for plastic pipes exceed the global average, which led to the development of the global plastic piping industry. The sustained and rapid development of construction industry in developing countries in the Asia-Pacific region accelerated the market demand for plastic pipes around 2005. At the same time, the economic growth in the Asia-Pacific region also stimulated the demand for communications, cable sheathing and gas pipes. At present, plastic pipes have been widely used, and there are many kinds of products. The main varieties are basically divided into three categories: PVC, PE and P P pipes.

At present, the application of plastic pipes in developed countries and regions such as Europe and the United States has been very common. Because of the large base, the annual growth rate of the market is not high, but the per capita use of plastic pipes is high. The application of plastic pipes in developing countries is still in a period of rapid growth. The per capita use of plastic pipes is relatively low, but the whole market has maintained a relatively rapid growth rate.

According to market research firm Report linker, after extracting historical demand data (2004, 2009 and 2014) and considering environmental factors, global demand for plastic pipes is expected to increase by 6.5% annually, reaching 20.6 billion meters by 2019. Among them, demand for PVC pipelines will increase to 30.3 million tons in 2019, and demand for HDPE pipelines will increase to 17.5 million tons at an annual growth rate of 7.2%.
